In cooperation with the designer Christiane Liebert Eike Roswag and Christof Ziegert curated a touring exhibition about construction with clay for the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH). The various possibilities to use earth as a building material are the main focus of the exhibition. Different techniques of earth construction as well as the materials sustainability and its potential for the future are demonstrated on the basis of historical examples all over the globe. A particular focus is set on the culture of the United Arab Emirates, in particular the city Abu Dhabi. Among other things the renovation and restructuring of the Jahili Fort to a cultural centre is presented here.
The exhibition emphasizes on the technical properties of earth and other natural building materials. The advantages of architecture with a historical and local basis are shown using the example of earth as a natural and recyclable building material. Visitors can be inspired by the haptic qualities and the atmospheric comfort to consider earth as a building material for their own houses.
