SWR2 TANDEM | Interview: The Future of Building – Architect Andrea Klinge opposes demolition
Many old houses that are not listed are being demolished. New buildings are then usually built with concrete and glass, often with underground car parks. But what do we gain from living in fancy flats and destroying our environment in the process? asks architect Andrea Klinge, ZRS Architekten.
The professor for Circular Construction in Switzerland and at KIT in Karlsruhe wants to inspire her students to think differently. Against demolition, in favour of transforming existing buildings with materials such as wood, reclaimed wood, clay and straw and for a policy that sets targets for less resource consumption and less CO2 pollution.
