New certificate course in building with earth | Bauhaus-Universität Weimar
The Bauhaus University Weimar has added a new part-time certificate program in Earthen Construction to its curriculum. Starting in the summer semester of 2025, the one-semester program will include seven in-person sessions under the academic direction of Christof Ziegert. It is aimed, among others, at civil engineers and architects. Participants will gain specific knowledge about building with earth, new earth building products and construction methods as well as new regulations and standards. In addition, the course, with a large number of experienced speakers from research and practice, aims to demonstrate the current state of the art and present the wide range of modern developments in building with earth and the handling of existing structures.
In addition to Christof Ziegert, Jasmine Alia Blaschek and Leon Radeljic from ZRS will also share their expertise with the students. The program will be complemented by a field trip and visits to laboratories. After successfully completing the course, students are awarded the title of “Fachingenieur*in für Lehmbau” (Specialist engineer for buildingwith earth) or “Fachplaner*in für Lehmbau” (Specialist planner for building with earth), depending on the requirements.
The certificate course is a cooperation between the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Bauhaus Weiterbildungsakademie Weimar e.V. in collaboration with the Dachverband Lehm e.V. and the Industrieverband Lehmbaustoffe e.V.
