International Course on the Conservation of Earthen Architecture 2022

20 students from 14 countries have just completed the 4-week »Conservation of Earthen Architecture« course hosted by the Getty Conservation Institute and the Department for Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT) in Al Ain (UAE) and Oman. The course content ranges from the techniques of construction survey to specific issues of damage mechanisms, rehabilitation and conservation of earthen buildings and archaeological sites with architectural remains made of earth. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christof Ziegert was the key instructor for more than a week, teaching the most important damage phenomena and their restoration in theory and practice, and was able to draw on our diverse project experience in the Middle East.

The next course is planned for winter 2024/2025.
