In cooperation with Architects4Future, HouseEurope!, and the BDA, the Deutsche Architektur Zentrum (DAZ) Berlin presents the special exhibition “Fix it! – Umbau statt Abriss” (“Conversion Instead of Demolition”) as part of the accompanying program to the exhibition “Die Abrissfrage & Power to Renovation”.
The exhibition showcases conversion projects from across Germany that highlight the potential of renovation and adaptive reuse. These projects are part of the BDA’s “Umbau Atlas”, which has been successfully compiling transformation projects since 2023. Among them is our project Administration Building Tierpark.
The exhibition is complemented by a conversion workshop, firsthand accounts from Architects4Future Berlin, and (conversion) building materials made from renewable resources. It supports the call of the European Citizens’ Initiative HouseEurope!, which aims to gather one million supporters by January 2026. In favor of a more ecologically and socially sustainable building practice, the initiative advocates prioritizing renovation and modernization over demolition and new construction. A voting booth in the DAZ allows visitors to support the EU Citizens’ Initiative.
As a pop-up exhibition, “Let’s fix it!” will travel throughout Germany over the course of a year.
