RE4 HONORED WITH THE HANS SAUER AWARD 2020
We are pleased to announce that our EU research project RE4 was honored with the Hans Sauer Award 2020 – DESIGNING CIRCULARITY IN THE BUILD ENVIRONMENT in the category Tools | Materials | Methods. The jury acknowledged the project for its consistent approach of demonstrating solutions for the direct reuse of components, using building materials that are particularly suitable for this.
Over the past 3.5 years, an international consortium of 13 partners developed a holistic concept for 100% prefabricated, energy-efficient buildings following the principal of circular construction. Proof of concept was delivered by a 2-storey prototype, which was built from approx. 80% recycled materials such as waste wood, recycled concrete and clay and was fully dismantled at the end of the project.
