New Integrated Knowledge based approaches to the protection of cultural heritage from Earthquake-induced Risk

  • Ziegert | Seiler Ingenieure, in collaboration with the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) are responsible for the protection of historic earthen buildings
  • Analysis of basic and building system specific failure mechanisms
  • Survey and analysis of damaged buildings
  • Conception and guidance for the attempted determination of constructional/material parameters of historic earthen materials and building elements
  • Concept development and assistance with testing of suitable building reinforcement methods
  • Computer simulations of earthquake effects on undamaged, damaged and reinforced earthen buildings

ZRS engineer services was earth building planning, research into minimally invasive techniques for the considered modification of earthen buildings in earthquake risk areas
