Fritz-Bender-Preis | Award winner

We are delighted that our project Woof & Skelle: Building Ensemble for Social Housing & Kindergarte, Ellener Hof, Bremen has been awarded the Fritz-Bender-Preis by the Munich-based Fritz Bender Foundation. The foundation promotes organic construction, the use of sustainable building materials and harmonisation between people and the built environment. The building ensemble in Ellener Hof by ZRS consists of two buildings and comprises nine apartments and a day care centre. The project is characterised by the consistent use of renewable building materials and a high proportion of timber construction. In addition to the load-bearing structure and exterior walls, the partition walls, staircases, elevator shafts and balconies are also made of timber. The building envelope and shell can be completely dismantled. A low-tech climate concept supports the circular and resource-efficient construction method.
